Camping Checklist
Camping is one of the highlights of the Cub Scout experience and often becomes the activity Scouts remember most. Throughout the year, Pack 66 offers several opportunities for families to enjoy the outdoors together, including our annual Pack camping trip (typically held in April or May), Monmouth Council’s camping events such as Cubtoberfest in October and Family Camp in June, and occasionally special overnight experiences at unique destinations. Older Cub Scouts may have additional opportunities as well, including den camping experiences for Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts.
These adventures help Scouts build confidence, develop outdoor skills, practice teamwork, and create lasting memories with family and friends. Camping also provides families with a chance to unplug, spend time together, and experience the outdoors in a fun and supportive environment.
Below is a sample camping packing list that we typically share before our campouts. It includes essential items to bring, optional items that can make your trip more comfortable, and a few items that should be left at home. The list is designed to help families prepare for a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable camping experience, especially if it’s your first time camping with the Pack. Not every item will apply to every family, but the items below cover most situations you’ll encounter on a typical Pack 66 campout.
