Code of Conduct

Pack 66 has established the following Code of Conduct to provide clear expectations for behavior and accountability. By creating a shared understanding among Scouts, parents, and leaders, we can maintain an environment that is fun, safe, and consistent with the values of Scouting.

All Cub Scouts, parents, and adult leaders are expected to “Do Your Best” and to live by the principles of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

 Cub Scouts

  • Treat everyone with respect and keep your hands and feet to yourself.
  • Wear the proper uniform to all Scouting events. Uniforms should be clean, neat, and complete.
  • Show respect to all adults and leaders in authority.
  • Pay attention during meetings and activities. When the Cub Scout sign is raised, silently return the sign, stop talking, and listen.
  • Scouts must use the buddy system during all Den and Pack activities whenever they are away from the group.
  • Scouts are not permitted to carry or use knives during Pack events, except for Bear, Webelos, and Arrow of Light Scouts who: (1) have successfully completed the appropriate knife safety course for their rank (Whittling, Chef’s Knife, or Knife Safety), (2) have permission from the Scout leader overseeing the event, and (3) are under continuous adult supervision.
  • Respect your surroundings, both indoors and outdoors, and leave every area as good as or better than you found it.

 Parents

  • Help your child learn and follow the Pack 66 Code of Conduct.
  • Work with Den and Pack leaders, when needed, to ensure all Scouts follow the Code of Conduct.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating appropriate behavior, language, and attentiveness to your child.
  • Pay attention during meetings and activities. When the Cub Scout sign is raised, silently return the sign and listen.
  • Cub Scouting is a family-centered program built on parent or guardian participation. A parent, guardian, or designated adult family member must accompany the Scout at all Pack and Den activities.
  • Parents and guardians are responsible for their children’s behavior during Pack and Den activities. Children may not wander away from meetings or activities without adult supervision.

General Rules

  • All Scouts, parents, and leaders must follow the Scouting America Guide to Safe Scouting.
  • Pets, firearms, fireworks, illegal drugs, smoking or vaping, and alcoholic beverages are not permitted at any Cub Scout activity or outing.
  • Youth Protection policies and guidelines must be followed at all times.
  • Cursing, foul language, and excessively loud, unruly, disrespectful, disobedient, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Fees for Pack events and trips are non-refundable unless the event is canceled by the venue or by Pack 66.

Discipline

Failure to follow the rules and guidelines outlined above may result in disciplinary action. If an issue cannot be resolved by the adult leaders involved, it will be referred to the Pack Committee for review. Disciplinary matters will be decided by a majority vote of the Pack Committee, and all decisions of the Committee will be final.

A Cub Scout and their family may lose good standing or be removed from Pack 66 by a majority vote of the Pack Committee for failure to follow the policies of Scouting America, Monmouth Council, or Pack 66.

All Scouts, parents, and adult leaders are participants in Pack 66 and represent their families, community, and local Scouting Council. As a condition of participation, all Scouts, parents, and adult leaders are expected to review and acknowledge this Code of Conduct with the understanding that serious misconduct or repeated violations may result in removal from the Pack.
